About This Show

The Partridge Family episode "Soul Club" was ranked by TV Land to Go: The Big Book of TV Lists, TV Lore, and TV Bests by Tom Hill as the #81 of 100 best sitcom episodes of all-time.  As Hill writes: "What was the difference between The Brady Bunch and The Partridge Family? As Louis Armstrong said about jazz: If you have to ask, you'll never know, but watching this very groovy and relevant episode might help." The epsiode also ranked in TV Guide Book of Lists 100 Greatest episodes of all time, at #78.

"Soul Club" has guest stars Richard Pryor and Lou Gossett as the owners of a Detroit "community" club that featured name bands for low admission costs.  Trouble arises when The Patridge Family is booked accidentally (The Temptations got sent to Tuscon) at the very same time that the loan sharks come to collect the last of the debt owed to them by the club.

"Soul Club" aired in season one of The Partridge Family on January 29, 1971.
