Memorable Moments on Television

"At President Kennedy's funeral when young John-John came out and saluted.... I still think it's the best single, most impressive, most dramatic television shot in the history of television." - Julian Goodman, NBC Executive

Television is a medium that creates shared experience -- whether it's a news event or a compelling storyline, there are certain moments which will always be remembered.

  • We Celebrated (such as: Olympics, Beatles on Ed Sullivan, Camryn Manheim wins the Emmy, Fall of the Berlin Wall)
  • We Laughed (Bloopers, Newhart final episode, Sammy Davis Jr. kisses Archie Bunker, Lucy Does a TV Commercial)
  • We Cried (9/11, JFK assassination, Henry Blake dies on M*A*S*H, Challenger explodes)
  • We Considered (Checkers speech, I Have A Dream Speech, Edith has breast cancer, “The Day After”)
